Day dream believer

I often day-dream, and sometimes my day dreams take on a realistic, picture perfect you could even say, form. Some are ethereal thoughts that float by like a soft summer breeze, others race by my nose faster than light breaking the sound barrier on their way, still others begin as fleeting thoughts that quickly materialize into moving pictures. Very entertaining stuff, these day-dreams of mine. A couple of weeks ago I went to the village to drop off some paperwork at the library and parked in front of a recently refurbished unoccupied building. The village has wonderfully old buildings along...

The river flows gently

Last week my husband and I took an early evening boat ride down the river, over at our cottage just a few miles from the farm. September and October are the most beautiful months for going out on that section of the river; the water is very clear and the trees are beginning to change to their autumn splendor. While we were out we saw many Canada geese, heron, king fishers, and swans. We also saw quite a few turtles sunbathing on fallen tree trunks and limbs laying at water's edge. That funny little hand knit skirt I was making last week for Sweet Pea is finished now, but she didn't want...

The farmer who works our fields planted corn this year; it has been four years I think since there was corn growing out there. By this time corn around here (and lots of people grow corn around here) is usually taller than I am. This year, however, we had such a wet spring that many of the crops are behind schedule. Our farmer planted the corn late, which he pretty much had to do because there had been standing water out in the fields. At first, it just looked sort of sad to see little struggling corn stalks coming up...

And here, I confess

I had determined not to talk about this, but I changed my mind because telling you what I am about to tell you might help someone who reads my blog.  So, here goes. I am doing Weight Watchers, the online program.  I am not particularly into diets, and favor instead lifestyle changes as being the only really viable means of addressing weight and health related issues.   I was nice and trim when we got married five years ago, but each year since I have put on an average of five pounds which usually happens over the winter months (big surprise). ...
