Welcome to my farm … I am firefly

After a 10-year break, I’m back with a relaunch of the “I Live on a Farm” lifestyle blog, sharing joy, creativity, and gratitude at a 10X greater level than ever before!

If you followed my blog back in the day, you might remember me as firefly, sharing my story of an internet meeting that led me out of the Los Angeles suburban hillsides, through a drive-through wedding chapel in Vegas, to say “I do,” and on to a new married life on a small farm in western New York.

Along with discovering all the nooks and crannies of my new rural home and surroundings, I shared photography, knitting projects, paintings, recipes, and knitting patterns. It was a joyful and touching experience to share that journey with blog readers from all over the world.

At times, WordPress (where my blog was hosted) featured my posts on their home page as being in the top 10 and top 100 posts. My readership grew from a handful to close to 10,000 by the time I had to take a break.

The death of my father in 2012 left me feeling quite sad and brokenhearted; he was my best friend from childhood and Number 1 Champion of all my endeavors. Where I had shared joy and gratitude in my writings before his passing, I began sharing sadness and melancholy.

Then, in 2015, we dipped our toes into actual farming with a small herd of cattle, and I had to start learning to manage a working farm. At the same time, my daughter and I started an Indie Yarn Artist business that blossomed overnight (you might know that business as Lucky Violet Color Co).

There have been many other adventures along the way, both good and not so good, and you may be surprised by some of the things I’ve been up to over the past ten years—I’ll share the stories that aren’t too private.

Some of my adventures have involved experimenting with floral farming, learning everything I could about making pizza, and even getting myself a new doggo (Charlie) along the way.

That’s me in the barn window, welcoming you back to my farm with open arms—I have so much to share with you!
