I am J. L. Fleckenstein, professional artist and writer, creator of the I Live on a Farm brand. About ten years ago I was living in Los Angeles when by chance while doing some research I met a man online. Three months later we got married at a drive-through window in Vegas on our way to his farm in Upstate New York. A few days later I was sitting on the back door stoop watching as my new husband drove a tractor round and round the barn mowing the yard.
i sat there a bit dazed and said to myself, "I live on a farm." Then, I said it again but with added incredulity ... "I live on a farm, and my husband drives a tractor."
A couple of months later I started my blog on Wordpress with the title, I Live on a Farm. It was a lifestyle blog with a slant toward my favorite hobby, knitting. My blog chronicled my many discoveries of the beautiful natural environment of my new life along with knitting projects and designs.
One thing led to another and before long I was publishing my own knitting patterns. I have been selling knitting patterns online for nearly ten years now via Etsy and Ravelry and you can still find my catalog on both.
this year my daughter and I have started collaborating as Indie yarn artists, hand dying and painting our own line of yarns under the new label, Lucky Violet Color Co.
