I live on a farm ... — faith

You know him as Balladeer

faith family inspiration Life love spirituality

As my regular readers know, my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer many years ago. Together he and my mother kept him healthy and vital in spite of that illness for quite a long time. I posted a request for prayers back in late spring, and we received so many wonderful prayers and kind thoughts from you all. It meant quite a lot to me, and also to my family. Dad's physical condition began deteriorating several months ago, very noticeably and I knew what that meant though I never wanted to say it out loud, or even think it when...

Good morning ... I hope you are having an enjoyable summer so far. I give mine mixed reviews. I spent the first part of June in Denver visiting with my parents, which was wonderful of course but not without some bittersweet feelings as well. Thank you to everyone who responded to last week's blog post with either a comment or by sending an email, Facebook message, or Twitter response. There was so much love from all of you directed toward me as well as my family and it made quite a difference in our lives. So, again, thank you. My mother tried to post a comment response thanking you all, for she was having trouble logging in to her Wordpress account and the post did not "take". I told her I would post her message, and thought if I do that as a separate...

I look outside my studio window as I write, viewing a great bounty of lush green growth.   Trees, green grasses, flowers, an abundance of life that is breathtaking in its simplicity and rustic charm.  Several Amish families in open, black buggies pulled by elegant dark chestnut colored horses have passed by on the road, their children wearing straw hats in the bright morning sun. I am blessed. I look over at the watercolor painting I am working on with two swans I photographed on our river last year on a perfectly gorgeous June day.  It is amazing to...

Chocolate. Coffee. Whiskey.

Remember seeing photos of the cookies I make with chocolate, coffee, and whiskey (among other things) in the ingredients? I love making those cookies at the holidays and sending a dozen each to various family members and some friends. I love photographing them also, because they look so scrumptious and photograph so beautifully. Sometimes I make a second round of them at Valentine's Day, adding a drop or two of red food coloring to make the icing pink and again, send them out a dozen apiece to family who I sorely miss. What makes me sad, however, is that I...
